Manu Bhaker Career

Before joining pistol shooting she was interested in cricket and had also joined Virender Sehwag’s coaching School in Jhajjar earlier she also used to do boxing and kickboxing as well Mary Kom’s Olympic bronze inspired her she decided to quit boxing after she had a swollen eye while playing volleyball as a warm-up routine for boxing then she switched to Thang-ta popular martial art form of Manipur soon she also left Thanga-ta after she was the win of a medal during a tournament in Delhi the next day of quitting Thanga-ta Manu bakar enrolled at Judo Academy near Dadri.

One day she visited her school’s shooting range and casually took a pistol and straightway shot 7.5 the coach was astonished as it normally takes 6 months to a year to shoot so accurately since her first raised with a pistol Manu had been spouted about as India’s next big shooting sensation with her father’s 1.5 lakh investment to under competitive shooting.

Manu First International’s success came in 2017 when she won the silver medal at the 2017 Asian Junior championships at the 2017 National Games held in Kerala she won nine gold medals there she also defeated Heena Sidhu and broke Sidhu’s record of 24.8 points scoring 24.23 points in the final at 2018.

International shooting sport Federation Cup held in Mexico Manu defeated Mexico’s Alejandra Zavala and won the gold medal in the woman’s 10 m air pistol she also became the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the World Cup at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Manu set a new Commonwealth Games record of 240.9 points at the 2023 Asian Games.

Manu won the gold medal in the women’s 25m air pistol team competition she however secured the fifth position with 21 points in the women’s individual 25m air pistol competition at the same event she is set to compete in two individual pistol events and the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics 2024.
