Early Life and Junior Career

Genie was born in Westmount in 1994, with an identical twin. Her parents, Michel and Julie, invested heavily in her tennis career and education from an early age. Genie began tennis lessons in Gatineau at Tennis Canada’s National Training Centre when she was only 5 years old. The pinnacle of Genie’s tennis career as a junior was winning the Wimbledon singles title for girls in 2012.

The 2014 Breakout Season

The year 2014 will always hold a significant place in the career of Genie Bouchard as it was during this period that she began to break through to the professional circuit. Bouchard was runner up in both the French and Australian Open tennis championships as she reached the semifinals of the tournaments. She then became the first Canadian born tennis player to reach a Grand Slam finals, although she was ultimately runner up to Petra Kvitova in the Wimbledon final. Bouchard also broke through to the Top 5 rankings in the Women’s Tennis Association as she was the first player from Canada to achieve a world ranking of No. 5 in October of that same year. She finished her 2014 tennis season by taking home the trophy at the Nürnberg Cup, winning against Karolina Pliskova, as well as becoming the most improved player in the WTA.

International Representation and Later Career

At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Bouchard competed for Canada. Throughout her career, Bouchard competed in 10 Billie Jean King Cup ties for her country, in which she had an impressive win record, losing only three of her 13 matches. She won a second doubles title, the 2019 Auckland Classic, alongside Sofia Kenin. Bouchard was unable to reach the peak level she had in 2014; however, because of her endorsement profile, media presence, and on court personality, she stayed a very well known and visible tour player throughout the next decade.

Retirement and the Move to Pickleball

In her home city of Montreal, Bouchard played the last tournament of her professional tennis career at the 2025 National Bank Open. As the sport’s presence and popularity continued to increase in North America, the PPA Tour became an attractive opportunity for her to explore a career in professional pickleball. She fully left her professional tennis career, and has continued to participate on the professional pickleball tour.

A New Career in Broadcasting

Broadcasting has become the next chapter in Bouchard’s life. Following her tennis career, Bouchard has worked as a commentator for Roland Garros on TNT Sports and for Wimbledon on the BBC. For the 2026 US Open, Bouchard became an analyst for tennis on ESPN. Bouchard’s modeling work, including appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and social media account, which has more than 2 million Instagram followers, has given her a notable public presence.

Net Worth and Earnings

As with every athlete profile we publish, it’s worth separating what’s confirmed from what’s speculation. Bouchard’s career prize money and broadcasting income have not been fully disclosed, and she was known during her playing career for a large endorsement portfolio, driven partly by her media profile as much as her ranking. No verified net worth figure exists publicly, so any specific number attached to her name online should be treated as an estimate rather than fact.
